چکیده

The core competence of a global engineering and manufacturing enterprise increasingly depends on the quality of its intellectual resources and how these resources are used. This paper presents an approach to document-based knowledge management in a typical global engineering and manufacturing application, the ANZAC Ship Project. 1. Document-based Knowledge Management 1.1 Documents in the Project Life Cycle With the globalisation of business activities, the core competence of a manufacturing enterprise increasingly depends on the quality of its intellectual capital and how this capital is used [1]. Intellectual capital is usually presented in the form of various kinds of documents. This paper discusses an approach towards the document-based knowledge management in the global engineering and manufacturing projects [2]. As shown in Figure 1, knowledge can be captured into documents at many stages in the project lifecycle and the nature and value of the reusable content and contextual knowledge varies with the project stage [3,4]. 1 To be published in GLOBEMEN, 2002, "Global engineering and manufacturing in enterprise networks". A knowledge-based NSGA-II approach for scheduling in virtual manufacturing cells

This paper considers the job scheduling problem in virtual manufacturing cells (VMCs) with the goal of minimizing two objectives namely, makespan and total travelling distance. To solve this problem two algorithms are proposed: traditional non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm (NSGA-II) and knowledge-based non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm (KBNSGA-II). The difference between these algor...
